On any given day I observe, observe, observe, how light bounces, reflects, absorbs and how even the mundane objects in my living room cast shadows  and movement. This inner drive to reproduce or represent things or atmosphere’s latches on to me like caterpillar on a leaf.   My goal is to create oil or acrylic paintings, for my own sanity and for the betterment of the community. For art has played an important role in uplifting spirits, bringing awareness of truths, and escaping daily pressures.  I hope to convey what I feel and observe in my own style (which is ever changing) in hopes it will bring thoughtfulness or enjoyment to someone else. Mitchel Albala, writes  to think of the act of painting like a writer approaching a story and trying to recreate its essence with less words and powerful prose into a concise poem. A painter converts nature’s wordy excesses into concise and meaningful shapes and values. It is visual poetry.   My Plein Air kayaking adventures and involvement with serious painting groups help conjure lots of words for picture stories that rise in my mind often chasing sleep away. Hopefully I am ever learning, improving and painting to move the heart.
